Demonoid down

Submitted by skykid on November 9, 2007 – 1:18 pmComments

Demonid logoAbout a month ago I wrote a post concerned about the fate of the world`s most famous torrent tracker Demonoid. It seems that the site is down once again due to threats from the CRIA (Canadian Recording Industry Association). When you check out its page you will see the following message :

The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.

It has happened one again – and I wonder how much it will take to the company to move its servers to some other country – since Canada seems so hostile. Russia would be a fine place I think – because their copyright laws allow content to be shared as long as no one is profiting out of it. And when the site do comes back – as I am sure it will – let`s hope that they will tighten the registration. Private trackers seem to stay open much longer than the rest since the community in them is more involved and interested to keep the site alive.

It seems that many users are switching to services such as Rapidshare , MediaFire…etc – and this seems to be a working solution – but still I know that many of you can`t wait to see their favorite tracker back again. Hopefully that will happen in less then a month.
