It is just about time to blog about one of the coolest web sites out there: Twitter! Actually I have already mentioned its existence in another post in this blog. Back then I did not know what Twitter is all about – but now since I have been using it for quite some time I feel a bit more confident using it . Its on my del.icio.us bookmark list and I just noticed that the site is gaining popularity – seeing that the URL has been saved by 165 people . Still chances are that you haven’t heard of Twitter so here is what I think you should know about it :

Twitter is cool – with it you can be sending free SMS messages to people from around the globe. I have tried this feature with a friend of mine from Spain and everything works as a charm. All you have to do it to get yourself a twitter account and tell your friend to do the same – after that you will be sending free* text messages in no time (* free provided that you use the web interface ).

I would like to see a better method for determining who can read a message you send out of the friend you add – but since the usage I outlined above is not exactly what twitter is all about – I can leave with it . And now you will say – well what twitter is all about – and according to the folks that run it :

Twitter is for staying in touch and keeping up with friends no matter where you are or what you’re doing. On the web or on your phone. Invite your friends to Twitter and decide how connected you want you to be.

If you sign up and have few friends sign up as well – you will be able to keep touch no matter where you are – because first you can set your status from the web for free – and all your friends will know what are you up to ( studying , dancing ,feeling happy , sad …etc) and even if you don`t have an access to the web you can always text the special twitter number – still your friends will get your updates on their mobiles provided that you and they want that.

I think that it is a pretty cool idea – social networking they say – as a term for twitter – and all one needs to do is to find some friends and try it out.

Ohh and you can use Twitter for blogging too – since there you get a personal page on which your updates are published .

Twitter has its own blog – check it out for more info. Also you can read about Twitter in Web 2.0 webblog ,Stormglass and Laughingsquid .
