The coming of age movie awards nominations for 2010 :
Each genre deserves to have its awards. The coming of age category is no exception. For a second year, we at theskykid.com are launching nominations for various categories related to the coming of age genre. There are some differences from the way things were organized last year but, since this is only the second edition of the awards, we still have a lot to learn when it comes to organizing such awards. Maybe in a year or two we will have something like a ceremony that will take place somewhere offline, like an officially announced event. This year, the awards will again be only online, but this should not undervalue them. You are the ones who are going to vote for a certain film and/or an actor, so you are the ones who really matter. These films were all made for you and voting on them will give the directors, actors, and other viewers like you some insights into what the community considers valuable in the field.
I believe that most of the titles included in the nominations will be familiar to you. If you are not sure about a certain title, feel free to use the search engine at this blog or any other such search engine to learn more about the film in question. Most of you know what films can be classified as coming of age, but for all the newbies to the genre, and for those who would like to refresh their knowledge, I recommend that you read the article entitled Coming of age films – definition.
The voting will be open until 29th of May 2010. In the meantime, you may use the form available at the very end of the nominations to nominate your own titles and actors that originally did not make it into the nominations. As soon as the official voting is closed – we will open another one powered by your user submissions for an additional viewers award.

I am glad to announce that the winners have been picked and the awards are going be have their own web site , which will feature information about the winners. Nomination forms and application form…etc. Its just the beginning – but you can see the first beta of the site on the following address :
The voting is now closed. The winners will be announced on a separate site devoted to the awards. It would take about a week to finish the work on it.
Many things on Internet change and evolve. Some are closed temporarily, other permanently …its all depends of the willingness and log time one has on his hands to support a big blog especially as it is the case of theskykid.com – after a time that it stops being really a blog if you go by the pure definition of what a blog is and make its transition from that form of publishing content into media type of publishing content which comes with its own rules and procedures . And yeah I have intentions to complete the whole process …learning the rules of the game while I am going it. Thanks for commenting and voting. The results shall be announced soon.

Hi SkyKid, great idea, I'll be voting in all the categories in a minute. I just wanted to take a few seconds out to congratulate you on your blog, it's great. I found you through lucas4you and I'm wondering if you know what happened to that blog. It appears to have closed down, which is a real shame. Anyway, keep up the good work.
I am glad that you like the awards. The winners will be announced on the blog naturally, but also on a special wen site which will be devoted exclusively to the awards . Its a project in work. Who knows may be one day we will have a festival and an official ceremony . Next issue is going to get even bigger media attention – so the awards are here to stay, improve and expand. James is an excellent short film, well done to all that participated in this fantastic film. It is well written, directed, produced and all the acting is supperb.
Yes Ikarus , its all starting once again and as you can see there are some huge improvements since the last year issue. Now its all over the media too as a press release was sent to the main distribution channels. Let the better ones win….I also exercised my vote ( I have one just as anyone else ) and am keeping my fingers crossed for my favorites to win ( :
