30th Annual Young Artist Awards [Winners update]
The Annual Young Artist awards are going to be presented for the 30th time at the Globe Theater, Universal Studios, Universal City. This is going to happen rather soon – on Sunday, March 29, 2009 – but you still have time to check the current nominations . The awards are established for young artists under the age of 18 in television, motion pictures, theater and music and are given by The Young Artist Foundation along with St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital & The Social Relations of Knowledge Institute, Inc.
Winners are determined by secret ballot of all associated with the Young Artist Association as well as former nominees. I would like to provide you with the opportunity to vote for some of the nominations right from this blog – and I have picked the one I am mostly interested in. You can see all nominations for 2009 at the Young Artist Awards Web site. And if you are lucky – and live in the US – you can even attend the ceremony in person .

Indeed choosing between Asa Butterfield & Jack Scanlon
and Bill Milner and Will Poutler is not an easy task. So for in our poll Bill Milner & Will Poulter are ahead – I wonder if this will be the case at the real awards – and 29th of March is near now.

The happy winners rejoice – while I am still struggling to find out who are they. The result I found are quite ….well not what I expected . For Best performance in an international feature film – Leading Young Performers the winner is Brandon Walters in the film Australia. In our pool he did not even make it into the first three.
As about TV movie – the award for leading young actor went to Alex Black . In our vote he was third – so closer on that one.
Nate Hartley won the best performance leading young actor for Drillbit Taylor as did Dakota Fanning. Now that`s a really big surprise for me. We seem to be Freddie Highmore`s fans – as its obvious from our results .
Brandon Soo Hoo got the best supporting honor as young actor for Tropic Thunder – a film I am yet to see.

Aw, poor Freddie. ;) Maybe he won for Finding Neverland or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory a few years ago and they needed to spread the recognition around.

Brandon Waltes in Australia is a terrible pick! Of the four films voted above it here, I’ve seen three and they were all MUCH better films and performances! I’ve never seen Låt Den Rätte Komma In, but I think I’ll buy it soon.
You’re not missing anything by not seeing Tropic Thunder. The performances in those other movies, of which I have seen none, must have been nauseous for Brandon Soo Hoo to have won. His was certainly nothing special.

Austin MacDonald just booked a principal role in the movie Jesus Henry Christ, he is also currently working on a TV series that premiered May 7th on TMN and HBO called Living in your Car. He plays a homeless teen in a car community with John Ralston.
Austin Just returned from Los Angeles as he was nominated for a second year for Best Actor in a guest starring role. He was nominated for 2 categories last year and won one for his work in Kit Kittredge an American Girl.
Austin can also been seen this year on season 4 of Little Mosque on the Prairie and is known for his role a Andy in Nickelodeons Roxy Hunter TV movies.
Austin is now involved in helping get the Canadian part of Hilary Duffs Blessings in a Back Pack Charity get going. They have now opened up several schools in Canada and with Austins help collected several hundred back packs for the program. He is working hard to get the message out. He is helped out by Billabong Canada and West 49 stores as well as Local schools and community festivals.
